Hi, I’m Rob Wise, a nomad that tries to live by the philosophy of the below two quotes:
“Ask yourself everyday, if today was the last day of your life would you want to do what you are about to do today?” – Steve Jobs
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.” – Mark Twain
When I was 23 I took a short trip to Chiang Mai in Thailand which changed my life, it was my first real time traveling overseas. I remember waking up in Chiang Mai on Monday, relaxed and really enjoying life, The weather was great, the prices were so cheap, people were nice, the city was exciting but relaxing at the same time.
I remember thinking that people are going into work now complaining how much they hate Mondays, repeating the routine of wake up, go to a job they hate, work, eat, sleep, look forward to the weekend, repeat again and again.
That’s when I realised I didn’t have to work until 70 and was too old to enjoy my life, I could travel, live overseas, retire young and escape the rat race.I moved to Thailand not long after that and lived there for 2 years, since then I’ve traveled a lot of world then but still consider Thailand my home.
I’ve been living a pretty nomadic lifestyle focused on travel instead of building a life but I have a background in I.T & finance and want to use these skills to become a digital nomad.
While doing this I plan to focus on entrepreneurship, social enterprise, microfinance and other ways I can also give back to the people of the world who haven’t been given the same opportunities as me but throughout my travels and time overseas have been so kind and welcoming to me.
Please feel free to get in contact if you think you can help me along the way or if there’s any way I can help you or your organisation. Or just get in contact to chat about anything, I’m always interested in connecting with like minded people.
Best wishes for doing more of what you love to do every day and living the life of your dreams.
About this website:
I started a website years ago called 365 days to financial freedom but I didn’t hit my goal in 1 year so I got discouraged as I publicly put myself out there and failed in the time I set for myself so I stopped the site.
I made progress and realised that it’s not about the timeframe it’s just about continuing to move in the directions of your goals every day, even if sometimes on that journey you take 1 step backwards for every 2 steps you take forward.
A journey of a thousand miles, starts with a single step
I started writing about travel on this site but it has become about lifestyle design, my goal to become a digital nomad, achieve financial freedom and earn an income from anywhere in the world.
I have always believed in following your dreams and doing what you love but often we get caught up making a living and we forget to live. Our dreams and goals in life get put aside and we get sidetracked and take a different path in life to the one we wanted to take.
Achieving your goals and dreams isn’t always straight forward or easy so this website won’t just be sugar coating the journey, I plan to share the journey with you in an honest and open way, blogging about what works, what doesn’t work and my experiences along the way.
These are the things I hope you find from this website:
- You will find this website interesting and useful.
- It will inspire you to travel, see more of the world, take risks, be less afraid of failure or mistakes.
- It will help you along your way to achieve financial freedom or becoming a digital nomad.
Most importantly of all I hope it will inspire and help you to do more of what you love to do every day of your life.
